After establishing themselves as successful residential developers in the early 1960s, Oakwood founders Howard Ruby and Bob Franks realized there was a definite void in the real estate market, especially when it came to individuals on temporary assignments who didn't need to purchase a home and whose needs wouldn't be met by a hotel. The solution: affordable, short-term residences in key locations, complete with modern amenities and backed by informed, responsive service professionals.
With this novel idea and a commitment to unwavering excellence, Oakwood quickly became an industry leader in temporary housing in the United States and around the world. Our size and structure allow us to serve clients with a range of temporary housing needs varying in scope from a single-employee move-in to hundreds of individuals at once in more than 25,000 locations worldwide.
Today we remain a privately held company with corporate offices based in Los Angeles, California (United States) and international headquarters in London (United Kingdom) and Singapore.
